A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Ellen Schornstein Williams for her outstanding public service;1
and for other purposes.2
WHEREAS, Ellen Schornstein Williams has long been recognized by the citizens of this3
state for the vital role that she has played in leadership and her deep personal commitment4
to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and5
WHEREAS, she has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of her time,6
talents, and energy toward the betterment of her community and state as evidenced by her7
dramatic and superlative service as Chief of Staff for Georgia Senator Elena Parent; and8
WHEREAS, Ellen's significant organizational and leadership talents, keen sense of politics,9
and sensitivity to the needs of t he citizens of this state have earned her the respect and10
admiration of her colleagues and associates; and11
WHEREAS, Ellen is known for her spirited approach to life, incomparable wit, and deeply12
held principals; and13

WHEREAS, Ellen selflessly supports humanitarian and civil right s efforts through14
volunteerism with the International Rescue Committee and the National Center for Civil and15
Human Rights; and16
WHEREAS, she resides in Atlanta with her husband of many years, David, and together they17
are proud parents to Hannah and Benjamin and new grandparents to Sufyan; and18
WHEREAS, she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for19
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and20
WHEREAS, Ellen has served with honor and distinction, and her v ision and unyielding21
commitment to the betterment of her state have set the standard for public service; and22
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this23
remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.24
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body25
recognize and commend Ellen Schornstein Williams for her effici ent, effective, unselfish,26
and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia and extend the most sincere best wishes27
for continued health and happiness.28
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed29
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Ellen Schornstein30
Williams.31
