HR1968: HR1968 Aponte, Edgardo; commend

26 LC 129 1452 House Resolution 1968 By: Representatives Lim of the 98th, Beckles of the 96th, Reeves of the 99th, and Clark of the 108th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Edgardo Aponte; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Edgardo Aponte has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the2 vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the welfare3 of the citizens of Georgia; and4 WHEREAS, he has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time,5 talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state as evidenced6 dramatically by his superlative service with the Gwinnett Count y Department of7 Transportation; and8 WHEREAS, Edgardo joined the department in 2016 as the preconstruction division director,9 bringing more than 16 years of private sector experience in transportation consulting; and 10 WHEREAS, in 2025, he was named Director of the Gwinnett County Department of11 Transportation; and 12 H. R. 1968 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1452 WHEREAS, Edgardo's significant organizational and leadership talents, remarkable patience13 and diplomacy, keen sense of vision, and sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of this state14 have earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and associates; and15 WHEREAS, Edgardo has overseen the successful completion of road way improvement16 projects including the Harbins Road at SR 316 interchange, Cruse Road widening, Britt Road17 pedestrian improvements, Burns Road at Dickens Road roundabout, Dickens Road pedestrian18 improvements, Peachtree Industrial Boulevard at Suwanee Dam Roa d intersection19 improvements, Buford Drive widening, and Jimmy Carter Boulevard pedestrian20 improvements projects; and21 WHEREAS, tirelessly committed to the betterment of his community, Edgardo is a graduate22 of the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce's Cultivating Hispanic Leadership Institute23 program as well as Leadership Gwinnett; and24 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this25 remarkable and distinguished gentleman be appropriately recognized.26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that27 the members of this body recognize and commend Edgardo Aponte f o r h i s e f f i c i e n t ,28 effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia and extend the most29 sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.30 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized31 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to32 Edgardo Aponte.33 H.
