26 LC 112 4148 Senate Resolution 1086 By: Senators Kemp of the 38th, Harrell of the 40th, Jones II of the 22nd, Mangham of the 55th and Payne of the 54th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Deaundra "Deedee" Metzger; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Deaundra "Deedee" Metzger is a distinguished and award-winning hairstylist2 and department head in television and film whose creativity, excellence, and leadership have3 brought honor to the State of Georgia; and4 WHEREAS, she received the Outstanding Hairstyling Award at the 57th NAACP Image5 Awards for her exceptional work on the critically acclaimed ser ies Reasonable Doubt, a6 testament to her remarkable talent and dedication to her craft; and7 WHEREAS, this recognition marks her second NAACP Image Award nomination, having8 previously been nominated for her outstanding work on the acclaimed film Till; and9 WHEREAS, in 2022, she was recognized as one of Variety's 10 Artisans to Watch, further10 solidifying her status as a rising and influential leader within the entertainment industry; and11 WHEREAS, as a department head, Ms. Metzger has demonstrated exe mplary leadership,12 overseeing professional hair teams while ensuring continuity, a rtistic excellence, and13 authenticity in storytelling across television and film productions; and14 S. R. 1086 - 1 - 26 LC 112 4148 WHEREAS, beyond her professional accomplishments, she is the co-founder and executive15 producer of the Leading Beauty Industry (LBI) Awards, an annual gala and educational16 symposium dedicated to uplifting beauty professionals and fostering mentorship, education,17 and business development within the industry; and18 WHEREAS, Ms. Metzger is also committed to community service, se rving as executive19 director of Banneker Class of 1989, Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides mentorship20 and scholarship opportunities for students of Benjamin E. Banneker High School in College21 Park, Georgia; and22 WHEREAS, through her artistry, leadership, and service, Deaundr a "Deedee" Metzger23 continues to inspire future generations while making a lasting impact both within the24 entertainment industry and throughout her community; and25 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this26 distinguished Georgian be appropriately honored.27 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body28 recognize and commend Deaundra "Deedee" Metzger for her extraor dinary achievements29 and extend their sincerest best wishes for continued success and impact.30 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed31 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for di stribution to Deaundra32 "Deedee" Metzger.33 S.
