26 LC 112 4203 Senate Resolution 1093 By: Senators Dickerson of the 21st, Albers of the 56th and Kirkpatrick of the 32nd A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Fire Chief Eddie Robinson for his ou tstanding service to1 Cherokee County and the State of Georgia; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Fire Chief Eddie Robinson has devoted more than four decades of his life to the3 protection, safety, and well-being of others through his distin guished service in both the4 United States Army and the fire service; and5 WHEREAS, Chief Robinson began his career in 1979 as a volunteer firefighter in Rock Hill,6 South Carolina, demonstrating early his commitment to serving his community; and7 WHEREAS, following high school, he honorably served his country in the United States8 Army and the United States Army Reserve, rising to the rank of First Sergeant and serving9 as a Drill Sergeant before retiring in 2002; and10 WHEREAS, upon relocating to Georgia, Chief Robinson continued his dedication to public11 safety by serving with the Hickory Flat Volunteer Fire Departme nt and later joining12 Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services in January 1999; and13 S. R. 1093 - 1 - 26 LC 112 4203 WHEREAS, his leadership and expertise earned him successive promotions, including Safety14 Officer in 2001, Division Chief of Training in 2009, and Assistant Fire Chief in 2011; and15 WHEREAS, on March 12, 2022, Chief Robinson was appointed Fire C hief of Cherokee16 County, where he has led with integrity, professionalism, and a steadfast commitment to17 excellence, following in the footsteps of his mentor, Chief Tim Prather; and18 WHEREAS, throughout his distinguished career, he has received n umerous honors,19 including 23 service ribbons from the United States Army, the D rill Sergeant Badge, the20 Meritorious Service Award, the Governor's Unit Citation for Outstanding Service during and21 after Hurricane Hugo, and the Georgia Fire Chief Certification in 2020; and22 WHEREAS, Chief Robinson is a devoted husband to his wife, Lorie , a proud father to23 Candace and Kenny, and a loving grandfather to six grandchildren, whose legacy of service24 continues through his family; and25 WHEREAS, after years of faithful and exemplary service, Chief R obinson now retires,26 leaving behind a lasting legacy of leadership, courage, and dedication that will continue to27 benefit Cherokee County for generations to come.28 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body29 recognize and commend Fire Chief Eddie Robinson for his extraordinary career of service30 and extend their deepest gratitude and best wishes upon his retirement.31 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed32 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Fire Chief Eddie33 Robinson.34 S.
