26 LC 112 4136 Senate Resolution 1089 By: Senators James of the 28th, Kemp of the 38th, Wicks of the 34th, Jones II of the 22nd, Harrell of the 40th and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Senator Elena Parent on her outstanding public service; and1 for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Senator Elena Parent has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for3 the vital role that she has played in leadership and her deep p ersonal commitment to the4 welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and5 WHEREAS, elected to the Georgia State Senate in 2014, Senator Elena Parent represents the6 44th Senate District, including portions of DeKalb and Clayton counties, and previously7 represented Senate District 42, serving portions of central and north DeKalb County; and8 WHEREAS, she currently serves as chair of the Senate Democratic Caucus and as a member9 of the Senate Committees on Education and Youth, Judiciary, App ropriations, and10 Government Oversight; and11 WHEREAS, she has further contributed through active membership in the Senate DeKalb12 Delegation, the Working Families Legislative Caucus, and the Women's Legislative Caucus;13 and14 S. R. 1089 - 1 - 26 LC 112 4136 WHEREAS, she remains actively engaged in her community through her service on the15 Advisory Board for the Olmsted Linear Park Association, as an E mory Ambassador since16 2020, and as a member of the Friends School of Atlanta Board of Trustees; and17 WHEREAS, Senator Elena Parent's significant organizational and leadership talents,18 remarkable patience and diplomacy, keen sense of vision, and sensitivity to the needs of the19 citizens of this state have earned her the respect and admirati on of her colleagues and20 associates; and21 WHEREAS, Senator Elena Parent has served with honor and distinc tion with the Georgia22 State Senate, and her vision and unyielding commitment to excellence will be sorely missed23 upon the occasion of her retirement; and24 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this25 remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately honored.26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body27 recognize and commend Senator Elena Parent for her efficient, e ffective, unselfish, and28 dedicated public service to the State of Georgia; congratulate her upon the grand occasion29 of her retirement; and extend the most sincere best wishes for continued health and30 happiness.31 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed32 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for di stribution to Senator Elena33 Parent.34 S.
