26 LC 112 4134 House Resolution 2013 By: Representative Scott of the 76th A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and legacy of Sister Rosa Lee Brown Thompson; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Sister Rosa Lee Brown Thompson was born on January 13, 1933, in2 Tallahassee, Florida, to the late Thomas Brown and Lola Brim Brown; and3 WHEREAS, she was the youngest of four children and was preceded in death by her parents4 and siblings, Eloise Brown Branton, Thomas Brown, and Willie Brown; and5 WHEREAS, Sister Rosa Lee Brown Thompson was raised in northeast Leon County, where6 she attended public schools and developed a strong work ethic that guided her throughout her7 life; and8 WHEREAS, she dedicated many years of her life to honest and hon orable work as a9 housekeeper, embodying dignity, perseverance, and quiet strength; and10 WHEREAS, she found joy in simple pleasures, including playing card games and spending11 time with loved ones; and12 H. R. 2013 - 1 - 26 LC 112 4134 WHEREAS, she was united in holy matrimony to Joseph "Joe" Thompson, and together they13 built a loving family and raised two daughters, Willie Mae Brooks and Davonski Cannon;14 and15 WHEREAS, a woman of deep and abiding faith, Sister Rosa Lee Bro wn Thompson16 confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior and served faithfully a s a devoted member of St.17 Peter Primitive Baptist Church; and18 WHEREAS, her life was a testament to faith, family, service, and resilience, leaving a lasting19 impression on all who knew and loved her; and20 WHEREAS, on Thursday, November 9, 2023, Sister Rosa Lee Brown T hompson entered21 into eternal rest, leaving behind a legacy of love that continu es through her daughters,22 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews,23 relatives, and friends; and24 WHEREAS, her memory will forever be cherished, and her legacy will continue to inspire25 generations to come.26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that27 the members of this body honor and celebrate the life of Sister Rosa Lee Brown Thompson28 and extend their deepest condolences to her family and loved ones.29 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized30 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the31 family of Sister Rosa Lee Brown Thompson.32 H.
