26 LC 112 4172 Senate Resolution 1091 By: Senators James of the 28th, Kemp of the 38th, Wicks of the 34th, Jones II of the 22nd, Harrell of the 40th and others A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and memory of Daniel Waldon Wright Jr.; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2 with the passing of Daniel Waldon Wright Jr. on March 7, 2026; and3 WHEREAS, known as "Deacon Dan," Daniel Waldon Wright Jr. was cherished by his loved4 ones as a man of devotion and faith; and5 WHEREAS, a proud Savannah native, he was a dedicated educator who served his fellow6 citizens as president of the Georgia Association of Educators; and7 WHEREAS, he was united in love and marriage to his wife, Apostl e Dr. Gloria Ward8 Wright, and was blessed with two remarkable children, Angeleque and Byron, as well as9 numerous beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and10 WHEREAS, he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern11 for his fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he demonstrated to his12 family and friends were admired by others; and13 S. R. 1091 - 1 - 26 LC 112 4172 WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation14 for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example he made of his life, he15 made this world a better place in which to live; and16 WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, Daniel Waldon Wright Jr. will long be17 remembered for his love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who18 had the great fortune of knowing him.19 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body20 join in honoring the life and memory of Daniel Waldon Wright Jr. and express their deepest21 and most sincere regret at his passing.22 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed23 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for di stribution to the family of24 Daniel Waldon Wright Jr.25 S.
