A RESOLUTION
Commending Micaiah Raheem; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, Micaiah Raheem, also known as Raheem the Dream, is a Georgia-based artist2
who has carved his own lane in music with authenticity, determi nation, and unmistakable3
Southern energy, blending raw street perspective with melodic i nstincts and confident4
storytelling; and5
WHEREAS, rooted in Atlanta's rich and influential hip-hop cultu re, his music balances6
hard-hitting beats with introspective moments that reflect pers everance, resilience, and7
ambition born from real-life experiences, while offering motivational anthems and personal8
reflections that resonate with audiences across generations; and9
WHEREAS, Micaiah Raheem began his musical journey while attendi ng high school in10
Atlanta, where he performed as an MC at talent shows and earned the nickname "The11
Dream" from his classmates, a name that would become synonymous with his artistic identity12
and musical career; and13
WHEREAS, in 1986, he recorded his first track on Arvis Records, marking the beginning14
of a groundbreaking path in Southern hip-hop, and on August 3, 1986, he became Atlanta's15

first rap artist to receive regular radio rotation in the Atlan ta market when his music was16
placed in rotation by Mitch Faulkner, program director of Kiss 104 FM, opening doors for17
generations of artists to follow; and18
WHEREAS, by the early 1990s, Raheem the Dream's music had becom e a defining19
soundtrack of Atlanta's emerging hip-hop scene, receiving natio nal airplay for the single20
"The Most Beautiful Girl" and contributing to the cultural ener gy surrounding Atlanta's21
world-famous Freaknik festival, a landmark cultural event that helped shape the city's22
reputation as a center of music, culture, and creativity; and23
WHEREAS, in recognition of his groundbreaking contributions to music and culture, the24
Atlanta City Council honored Raheem the Dream in 2016 by procla iming "Raheem the25
Dream Day" and then-Mayor Kasim Reed presented him with the Pho enix Award, the26
highest honor bestowed by the Mayor's Office, for his outstandi ng contributions and27
pioneering role in laying the foundation of Atlanta hip-hop; and28
WHEREAS, more than an artist, Raheem the Dream represents a mindset of turning pressure29
into progress and dreams into direction, continuing to inspire audiences through consistency,30
evolution, and an unwavering work ethic while proudly representing the City of Atlanta and31
the State of Georgia.32
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body33
commend Micaiah Raheem, also known as Raheem the Dream, for his pioneering role in the34
development of Atlanta's hip-hop culture and extend their sincere best wishes for continued35
success and influence in the years ahead.36

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed37
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Micaiah Raheem.38
