26 LC 112 4168 Senate Resolution 1077 By: Senators Anderson of the 43rd, Harbison of the 15th, Howard of the 35th and Jones II of the 22nd A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and memory of Samuel C. Peterson; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of an incredibly distinguished individual2 with the passing of Samuel C. Peterson; and3 WHEREAS, Samuel C. Peterson was born on November 22, 1932, in Miller's Ferry, Florida,4 a beloved son of Vinnie Brown and Lee Peterson; and5 WHEREAS, he served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and l iberty with the United6 States Army, valiantly and courageously protecting his fellow Americans during the Korean7 War and earning his honorable discharge; and8 WHEREAS, he was united in love and marriage to his wife, Emma, and was blessed with9 five remarkable children, Edith, Priscilla, Patricia, Samuel A. , and Tonya; 11 wonderful10 grandchildren; 17 outstanding great-grandchildren; and four mag nificent11 great-great-grandchildren; and12 S. R. 1077 - 1 - 26 LC 112 4168 WHEREAS, a man of deep and abiding faith, Samuel C. Peterson was a life-long member13 of St. Luke AME Church, where he served as Class Leader, Stewar d ProTem, Trustee14 ProTem, and Sunday School Teacher; and15 WHEREAS, he further served his fellow citizens for more than 30 years as a member of the16 NAACP, holding the role of Chair of Veteran Affairs; and17 WHEREAS, he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern18 for his fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he demonstrated to his19 family and friends were admired by others; and20 WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation21 for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example he made of his life, he22 made this world a better place in which to live; and23 WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, Samuel C. Peterson w ill long be24 remembered for his love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who25 had the great fortune of knowing him.26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body27 join in honoring the life and memory of Samuel C. Peterson and express their deepest and28 most sincere regret at his passing.29 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed30 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for di stribution to the family of31 Samuel C.
