26 LC 112 4198 House Resolution 2083 By: Representative Scott of the 76th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Mrs. Robbie Ruth Gandy Williams for her lifelong dedication1 to faith, family, community, and service; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Mrs. Robbie Ruth Gandy Williams was born on December 26, 1939, in Atmore,3 Alabama, to the late Greeley and Maggie Gandy as the seventh of nine children; and4 WHEREAS, at the age of 21, in 1959, she relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, with her husband,5 the late Prince Williams Sr., and their two young sons while ex pecting the birth of their6 daughter, demonstrating strength, faith, and commitment to buil ding a better life for her7 family; and8 WHEREAS, in 1969, she established her permanent residence in the Decatur area, where she9 has faithfully lived for 57 years, raising a loving family that includes three sons, one10 daughter, 11 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren, leaving a legacy of love, unity, and11 generational impact; and12 WHEREAS, Mrs. Williams accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at a n early age and was13 baptized at Mt. Triumph Missionary Baptist Church in Atmore, Alabama; and after moving14 to Atlanta, she became a devoted and active member of The Greater Travelers Rest Baptist15 H. R. 2083 - 1 - 26 LC 112 4198 Church under the leadership of Pastor Hubert Floyd Shepherd, where she served faithfully16 for many years until 2001; and17 WHEREAS, for the past 25 years, she has continued her spiritual journey as a committed18 member of The Way Christian Ministries in Decatur, Georgia, under the leadership of Dr.19 Prince Williams Jr., her son, demonstrating her enduring faith and commitment to ministry;20 and21 WHEREAS, throughout her life, Mrs. Williams has exemplified a s trong work ethic and22 entrepreneurial spirit, holding positions with Our Way Machine Shop, Northern Telecom23 Company, and Mary Kay Cosmetics Inc., where she served as a Sales Director, in addition24 to operating a personal home daycare; and25 WHEREAS, she has continued her service to the community as a dedicated Crossing Guard26 with the DeKalb County School District for the past 15 years, e nsuring the safety and27 well-being of countless children; and28 WHEREAS, Mrs. Williams is deeply committed to health and wellne ss, having been an29 active member of the East Lake YMCA for 26 years, where she fai thfully exercises with30 fellow seniors multiple days each week; and31 WHEREAS, she finds great joy in tending to her yard and garden, nurturing not only flowers32 but also relationships with family and friends, reflecting her caring spirit and love for life;33 and34 H. R. 2083 - 2 - 26 LC 112 4198 WHEREAS, Mrs. Williams is widely admired for her unwavering dev otion to her35 community, her church, her family, and her profession, and she stands as a shining example36 of strength, grace, and service for generations to come.37 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that38 the members of this body recognize and commend Mrs. Robbie Ruth Gandy Williams for39 her remarkable life of service, her enduring faith, and her inv aluable contributions to the40 community.41 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized42 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Mrs.43 Robbie Ruth Gandy Williams.44 H.
