26 LC 112 4150 Senate Resolution 1085 By: Senators Kemp of the 38th, Harrell of the 40th, Jones II of the 22nd, Mangham of the 55th and Payne of the 54th A RESOLUTION Congratulating Robert "Bob" Willis; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Robert "Bob" Willis was born in 1926 in Louisville, Kentucky, and this year2 he enjoys the delightful distinction of celebrating his 100th birthday; and3 WHEREAS, in his early adulthood, Robert "Bob" Willis served as a guardian of this nation's4 freedom and liberty with the United States Navy, valiantly and courageously protecting his5 fellow Americans during World War II; and6 WHEREAS, he was initiated into the Beta Mu Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc.7 at Kentucky State University in 1949, and as a college senior, he served as Assistant8 Regional Vice President for the Midwestern Region and later as District Director of9 Kentucky; and10 WHEREAS, while working as a federal investigator for the Depart ment of Housing and11 Urban Development in Atlanta, he served two terms as President of Eta Lambda Chapter,12 eight years as District Director of Georgia, and then four years as Southern Regional Vice13 President; and14 S. R. 1085 - 1 - 26 LC 112 4150 WHEREAS, his exemplary fraternal service has earned him numerous accolades, including15 the Elmer C. Collins Award, the Regional Administrators Leadership Award, and the Award16 of Merit, Alpha Phi Alpha's highest honor; and17 WHEREAS, Robert "Bob" Willis has reactivated more brothers and ushered in more Life18 Members than anyone in Alpha Phi Alpha history, has maintained perfect attendance at19 Regional Conventions, and has missed only two District and six General Conventions since20 1949; and21 WHEREAS, the devotion, patience, and understanding he has demonstrated have provided22 the foundation of success from which his family members have developed and flourished,23 as evidenced by his two wonderful children, Georgia State Representative Inga S. Willis and24 Attorney Robert A. Willis Jr.; and25 WHEREAS, by the example Robert "Bob" Willis has made of his life, he makes this world26 a better place in which to live, and it is only fitting and pro per that he be appropriately27 recognized during this very special and memorable time.28 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body29 congratulate Robert "Bob" Willis on the remarkable occasion of his 100th birthday and30 extend the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.31 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed32 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for di stribution to Robert "Bob"33 Willis.34 S.
