26 LC 112 4178 House Resolution 2029 By: Representative Cannon of the 58th A RESOLUTION Recognizing March 31, 2026, as Community-Based Doula Day; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, community-based doulas provide continuous support to mothers during labor2 and delivery, helping them cope with the physical and mental demands of giving birth; and3 WHEREAS, by drawing on their specialized training and lived experience to guide birthing4 persons through labor and birth, community-based doulas provide emotional support and5 physical comfort that enhance the childbirth experience for the entire family; and6 WHEREAS, community-based doulas share at least one commonality with the birthing7 person, which improves outcomes for underserved communities; and8 WHEREAS, community-based doulas work with medical staff, including doctors, midwives,9 and nurses, to provide informational support to all birthing people they serve and help with10 their transition to parenthood; and11 WHEREAS, community-based doulas remove barriers by meeting families prenatally and12 postpartum in the home; and13 H. R. 2029 - 1 - 26 LC 112 4178 WHEREAS, community-based doulas across the State of Georgia address maternal health14 disparities, help create positive childbirth experiences, and work towards improved birth and15 infant health outcomes.16 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that17 the members of this body recognize March 31, 2026, as Community-Based Doula Day.18 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized19 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution avai lable for distribution to the20 public and the press.21 H.
