Senate Resolution 1082

A RESOLUTION
Commending Marcayla Thomas for her outstanding service as a legislative intern; and for1
other purposes.2
WHEREAS, Marcayla Thomas is a graduate student at Seton Hall University pursuing dual3
master's degrees in public administration and diplomacy and international relations; and4
WHEREAS, she has achieved notable academic distinction, earning three bachelor's degrees5
in international affairs, Asian studies, and Black studies alon g with minors in Korean and6
political science, a certificate in homeland security and intelligence, and a specialization in7
international law; and8
WHEREAS, Marcayla Thomas has demonstrated a strong commitment t o public service9
through her academic research and professional experience in le gislative affairs, legal10
administration, and policy analysis, with research interests in cluding international legal11
systems, the geoeconomics of Burkina Faso's development, and cu lturally informed12
governance; and13

WHEREAS, during her service as a legislative intern, Marcayla T homas contributed to14
policy research, bill tracking, legislative analysis, and constituent-focused communications15
to support informed decision-making processes; and16
WHEREAS, her academic, professional, and legislative work demonstrates her innate sense17
of purpose for public service, improving legal and policy insti tutions, understanding how18
public institutions shape both national and international outco mes, and how thoughtful19
leadership can improve those systems for current and future generations; and20
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this exemplar y individual be21
appropriately honored during this special time.22
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body23
commend Marcayla Thomas for her service as a legislative intern during the 2026 regular24
session of the General Assembly of Georgia and extend the most sincere best wishes for25
future success.26
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed27
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Marcayla Thomas.28
