26 LC 112 4141 House Resolution 2026 By: Representatives Campbell of the 35 th, Adeyina of the 110 th, McQueen of the 61 st, Seabaugh of the 34th, Wilkerson of the 38th, and others A RESOLUTION Congratulating the Kennesaw State University men's basketball team for winning the 20261 Conference USA Men's Basketball Championship and earning a berth in the NCAA Division2 I Men's Basketball Tournament; and for other purposes.3 WHEREAS, Kennesaw State University has become one of the larges t public universities4 in the State of Georgia, and it continues to uphold a tradition of academic and athletic5 excellence; and6 WHEREAS, under the inspired leadership of third-year Head Coach Antoine Pettway, the7 Owls men's basketball team ascended to the pinnacle of Conferen ce USA play in only its8 second year competing in the league; and9 WHEREAS, the Owls defeated Louisiana Tech with a score of 71-60 on March 14, 2026, at10 VBC Propst Arena in Huntsville, Alabama; and11 WHEREAS, upon capturing their first-ever Conference USA title, the Owls finished the12 season with 21 victories, the second-most wins in school history; and13 H. R. 2026 - 1 - 26 LC 112 4141 WHEREAS, with this championship victory, Kennesaw State became the first Conference14 USA institution to win championship games in both football and men's basketball in the same15 year; and16 WHEREAS, the Owls earned an automatic bid to the 2026 NCAA Tournament as the No.17 14 seed in the West Region, marking only the second trip to Mar ch Madness in program18 history; and19 WHEREAS, this season stands as a testament to the dedication and vision of Coach Pettway,20 the skill and determination of KSU men's basketball, and the pa ssionate support of Owl21 Nation.22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that23 the members of this body congratulate Head Coach Antoine Pettway and the Kennesaw State24 University men's basketball team upon the grand occasion of winning the 2026 Conference25 USA Men's Basketball Championship and demonstrating exceptional athleticism in the 202626 NCAA Tournament.27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized28 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the29 Kennesaw State University men's basketball team.30 H.
