A RESOLUTION
Honoring the life and memory of John Widner Adams; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2
with the passing of John Widner Adams; and3
WHEREAS, John Widner Adams was born on May 8, 1928, in Carrollt on, Georgia, a4
beloved son of Mary Carolyn Widner Adams and Isaac Olin Adams; and5
WHEREAS, he served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and l iberty with the United6
States Army, valiantly and courageously protecting his fellow Americans during the Korean7
War; and 8
WHEREAS, following his military service, he dedicated his professional career to serving9
rural Georgia as a soil conservationist, providing expert guidance in land stewardship, water10
management, and agricultural sustainability; and11
WHEREAS, John Widner Adams volunteered countless hours of his time and energy toward12
his community, including his work with the Lyons Recreation Dep artment to design and13
improve athletic facilities at Partin Park; and14

WHEREAS, he was united in love and marriage to his wife, Addie, and was cherished by his15
loved ones as a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfat her who demonstrated16
unwavering love and commitment; and17
WHEREAS, he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern18
for his fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he demonstrated to his19
family and friends were admired by others; and20
WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation21
for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example he made of his life, he22
made this world a better place in which to live; and23
WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, John Widner Adams wi ll long be24
remembered for his love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who25
had the great fortune of knowing him.26
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that27
the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of John Widner Adams and28
express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.29
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized30
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the31
family of John Widner Adams.32
