26 LC 112 4182 House Resolution 2085 By: Representatives Holcomb of the 101st, Tran of the 80th, Kendrick of the 95th, Roberts of the 52nd, Barnes of the 86th, and others A RESOLUTION Congratulating the St. Pius X Catholic High School boys basketb all team for winning the1 2026 GHSA 4A State Basketball Championship; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the St. Pius X Catholic High School boys basketball team has established and3 maintained a proud tradition of excellence with equal emphases on character and academics;4 and5 WHEREAS, this superlative team has completed another triumphant season of basketball6 competition by posting a perfect record of 33 wins and zero losses, the only unbeaten team7 in Georgia; and8 WHEREAS, the Golden Lions br ought special recognition to their school by winning the9 2026 GHSA 4A State Basketball Championship against Pace Academy with a final score of10 54 to 51; and11 WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding12 athletic ability, dedication, hard work, and unity of purpose and spirit of each member of the13 team; its superb offensive and defensive talents; and the astute direction of Head Coach Will14 Cloyd, a 2008 alumnus of the school; and15 H. R. 2085 - 1 - 26 LC 112 4182 WHEREAS, as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by16 performing with courage and precision over months of training a nd competition, it is17 abundantly proper to call them champions.18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that19 the members of this body congratulate the St. Pius X Catholic High School boys basketball20 team for winning the 2026 GHSA 4A State Basketball Championship and extend best wishes21 for their continued success.22 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized23 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the24 St. Pius X Catholic High School boys basketball team.25 H.
