SR1095: SR1095 Scattering Resources, Inc.; recognize and commend

26 LC 129 1537 Senate Resolution 1095 By: Senators Rahman of the 5th, Mallow of the 2nd, McLaurin of the 14th, Howard of the 35th and Orrock of the 36th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Scattering Resources, Inc.; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, founded in October 2009, Scattering Resources, Inc., serves as a bridge between2 those who have resources and those who need them, scattering hope, dignity, and tangible3 help, one resource at a time; and4 WHEREAS, founder Dr. Tamara L. Moore, inspired by her late gran dmother Philomene5 Homere, was called to action in 2008 when devastating mudslides struck Northern Haiti; and6 WHEREAS, when the catastrophic 2010 Haiti earthquake struck mon ths later, the7 organization immediately mobilized, solidifying its mission to help those without the basic8 necessities to live with dignity in both the United States and Haiti; and9 WHEREAS, 16 years later, Scattering Resources, Inc., addresses a critical yet often10 overlooked crisis: hygiene insecurity; and11 WHEREAS, many people across Georgia, the United States, and Haiti must choose between12 purchasing soap, toothpaste, deodorant, and other hygiene essentials or paying for food, rent,13 and utilities; and14 S. R. 1095 - 1 - 26 LC 129 1537 WHEREAS, Scattering Resources, Inc., recognizes that dignity begins with access to basic15 hygiene necessities; and 16 WHEREAS, beyond immediate relief, Scattering Resources, Inc., provides clothing, school17 supplies, and disaster response while offering career and financial empowerment workshops18 that help individuals break cycles of poverty; and19 WHEREAS, since 2009, the organization has served over 10,000 in dividuals, distributing20 thousands of hygiene kits, clothing items, school supplies, and emergency relief resources;21 and22 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this extraord inary organization be23 appropriately honored.24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body25 recognize and commend Scattering Resources, Inc., for 16 years of unwavering support and26 dedication to the citizens of the State of Georgia, the United States, and Haiti.27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed28 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for di stribution to Scattering29 Resources, Inc.30 S.
