A RESOLUTION
Honoring the life and memory of Barbara Anna Barker; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2
with the passing of Barbara Anna Barker; and3
WHEREAS, Barbara Anna Barker was born on April 4, 1942, a beloved daughter of Frances4
Newton and Jack Nesbit; and5
WHEREAS, a woman of deep and abiding faith, she was an active m ember of Hopewell6
Baptist Church for several decades, where she served diligently across numerous ministries7
and boards; and8
WHEREAS, she dedicated 22 years of professional service to working at Dr. Youngblood's9
dental office in downtown Norcross and later made history as the first Black female clerk for10
the City of Norcross, a position she held for 25 years; and11
WHEREAS, she was united in love and marriage to her husband, Fr ank, and was blessed12
with two remarkable sons, Zachary and Deshannon, as well as five wonderful grandchildren,13
Zachary, Zacheya, Zakye, Zakell, and Dayten; and14

WHEREAS, she gave inspiration to many through her high ideals, morals, and deep concern15
for her fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding she demonstrated to16
her family and friends were admired by others; and17
WHEREAS, she was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation18
for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example she made of her life,19
she made this world a better place in which to live; and20
WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous woman, Barbara Anna Barke r will long be21
remembered for her love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who22
had the great fortune of knowing her.23
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that24
the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Barbara Anna Barker and25
express their deepest and most sincere regret at her passing.26
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized27
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the28
family of Barbara Anna Barker.29
