26 LC 112 4177 House Resolution 2125 By: Representative Burns of the 159th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Dorothy Glisson; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, Dorothy Glisson has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours2 of her time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of her c ommunity and state, as3 evidenced dramatically by her many years of superlative service to Screven County; and4 WHEREAS, Dorothy Glisson served with honor as a Screven County commissioner from5 1995 to 1998 and was selected as vice chair of the Screven County Board of Commissioners6 in 1998; and7 WHEREAS, she has additionally served as president of the Sylvania Rotary Club from 20058 to 2006, member of the Screven County Rotary and the Screven Co unty Chamber of9 Commerce, and as chairman of the Screven County Community Collaborative; and10 WHEREAS, her dedication to regional and community progress is further evidenced by her11 service on the Coastal Georgia Regional Development Center Restructuring Committee, the12 Board of the Regional Commission for Screven County, the Screve n County Hospital13 Authority, and the Ogeechee Technical College Board; and14 H. R. 2125 - 1 - 26 LC 112 4177 WHEREAS, her outstanding contributions have been recognized wit h numerous honors,15 including the City of Sylvania Above & Beyond Volunteer Award i n 2005; the Frances16 Duncan Award on December 10, 2019; the Agnes Tebeau Award; and designation as17 Screven County Citizen of the Year; and18 WHEREAS, this distinguished gentlewoman has given inspiration to many through her high19 ideals, morals, and deep concern for her fellow citizens, and she possesses the vast wisdom20 which only comes through experience and the strength of charact er which is achieved21 through overcoming the many challenges of life; and22 WHEREAS, she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for23 integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and24 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this25 remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately honored.26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that27 the members of this body recognize and commend Dorothy Glisson for her many exceptional28 years of service on behalf of her fellow citizens as well as ex tend the most sincere best29 wishes for continued health and happiness.30 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized31 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to32 Dorothy Glisson.33 H.
