26 LC 112 4244 House Resolution 2106 By: Representative Carson of the 46th A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and memory of William Edward "Ed" Davis; and for other purposes.1 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2 with the passing of William Edward "Ed" Davis on March 23, 2026; and3 WHEREAS, William Edward "Ed" Davis was born in Alberta, Virgini a, a beloved son of4 Richard M. Davis Sr. and Martha "Beth" Page Davis; and5 WHEREAS, he served the youth of this state as a band director a nd fine arts department6 chair at multiple schools, most notably Austin Road Middle School in Henry County, where7 under his leadership, bands earned 67 consecutive superior rati ngs at Georgia Music8 Educators Association events; and9 WHEREAS, throughout his career, he encouraged generations of st udents to grow as10 musicians and individuals, becoming a mentor and guide whose in fluence extended far11 beyond the classroom; and12 WHEREAS, he further served as president of the Georgia Music Educators Association, held13 leadership roles within the Phi Beta Mu International Bandmaste rs Fraternity and the14 H. R. 2106 - 1 - 26 LC 112 4244 National Band Association, and a ppeared more than 200 times as a guest conductor and15 adjudicator across multiple states; and16 WHEREAS, he received numerous honors for his contributions to m usic education,17 including the National Band Association Citation of Excellence, the Sudler Cup from the18 John Philip Sousa Foundation, the Sousa Foundation Legion of Honor, and more; and19 WHEREAS, William Edward "Ed" Davis co-founded ENCORE! Music Camps, the Youth20 Concert Band of Atlanta, and TARA Winds, creating opportunities for musicians of all ages21 to develop their talents; and22 WHEREAS, he was united in love and marriage to his wife, Marcia, and was blessed with23 two remarkable children, Allison and Jonathan; and24 WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, William Edward "Ed" Davis will long be25 remembered for his love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who26 had the great fortune of knowing him.27 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that28 the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory o f William Edward "Ed"29 Davis and express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.30 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized31 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the32 family of William Edward "Ed" Davis.33 H.
