26 LC 112 4228 House Resolution 2128 By: Representatives Lumsden of the 12th, Dempsey of the 13th, and Barton of the 5th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending the 2026 Heart of Community Young Heart Award recipient1 Leah Mayo; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Leah Mayo serves as an Assistant District Attorney in the Floyd County District3 Attorney's Office; and4 WHEREAS, Leah is a graduate of Darlington School, Presbyterian College, and she received5 her Juris Doctor from the Mercer University School of Law; and6 WHEREAS, she has served as president and social committee co-chair for the Rome Area7 Council for the arts; and8 WHEREAS, Leah has received the Outstanding Young Alumna Award from Presbyterian9 College, Exceptional Young Professional Award from the Rome-Flo yd Chamber of10 Commerce, and was chosen to deliver the 2024 Opening Convocatio n at Presbyterian11 College; and12 WHEREAS, Leah has served as a college mentor and Mock Trial Coach at Pepperell High13 School; Darlington School Alumni Council Committee Chair; and a s a Member of14 H. R. 2128 - 1 - 26 LC 112 4228 Leadership Rome XXXIX; Leadership Darlington Class '22; Rome Ba r Association;15 Rome-Floyd Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals; and the Mercer University School16 of Law Young Alumni Council Class Representative; and17 WHEREAS, with an impressive career in public service and numero us volunteer and18 community leadership engagements, Leah Mayo exemplifies the typ e of young leader19 integral to the future of Rome and Floyd County.20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that21 the members of this body recognize Leah Mayo for her outstandin g dedication to the22 community, commend her as a recipient of the 2026 Heart of Comm unity Young Heart23 Award, and extend the most sincere best wishes for continued success.24 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized25 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Leah26 Mayo.27 H.
