26 LC 112 4241 House Resolution 2132 By: Representatives Smith of the 70th and Bonner of the 73rd A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Elm Street Elementary School upon its 70th anniversary; and1 for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, a proper quality education for the young people of this state is the single most3 important objective of the General Assembly; and4 WHEREAS, founded in 1956, Elm Street Elementary School initiall y taught first through5 sixth grade before transitioning to a primary school for grades kindergarten through grade6 three in 1973; and7 WHEREAS, in 1988, Elm Street Elementary School made the final a djustment to the8 kindergarten through fifth grade structure in adherence with the regulations in the Georgia9 Quality Basic Education Act, which it has since upheld; and10 WHEREAS, the school's long history has made it a staple in the surrounding community, and11 it has remained at its initial location on Elm Street since its founding; and12 H. R. 2132 - 1 - 26 LC 112 4241 WHEREAS, the staff and faculty of Elm Street Elementary School dedicate innumerable13 hours of their time and energy toward the well-being of the community, building upon the14 school's exemplary legacy of excellence; and15 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this exceptional academic institution be16 appropriately honored during this special time.17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that18 the members of this body recognize and commend Elm Street Elementary School upon the19 grand occasion of its 70th anniversary and extend best wishes for continued success.20 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized21 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Elm22 Street Elementary School.23 H.
