26 LC 112 4240 House Resolution 2126 By: Representative Smith of the 18th A RESOLUTION Honoring and recognizing the Atlanta's John Marshall Law School Law Journal; and for1 other purposes.2 WHEREAS, on April 2, 2026, a group of Atlanta's John Marshall Law School Law Journal3 students visited the state capitol at the invitation of Representative Tyler Paul Smith; and4 WHEREAS, Atlanta's John Marshall Law School was founded in 1933 as an independent,5 freestanding educational institution dedicated to providing a quality educational opportunity6 to non-traditional or adult learners and to other significantly underserved segments of7 Georgia's citizenry; and8 WHEREAS, the John Marshall Law Journal is an annual legal perio dical consisting of9 contributed Articles, Student Notes and Comments, and Legislative Summaries. The featured10 articles focus on a single, timely area of state, federal, or i nternational law, while Student11 Notes and Comments cover a wider variety of other jurisprudence . The Legislative12 Summaries are concise, detailed descriptions of pending or rece ntly enacted Georgia13 legislation and the effects that said legislation will have on the Georgia community. In the14 spring, the journal hosts a symposium at which the authors of t he published pieces in the15 Spring issue, panelists, and attendees examine recent and pendi ng legislation, significant16 H. R. 2126 - 1 - 26 LC 112 4240 court decisions, student commentary, and contributions by preeminent Georgia scholars and17 practitioners; and18 WHEREAS, the annual symposium of the John Marshall Law Journal is a Continuing Legal19 Education (CLE) event as well, for which the law journal applies to the State Bar of Georgia20 annually for approval of CLE credits to be earned by attendees. As a service to the Georgia21 Bar and the legal community of the state, the law journal charges no tuition for attendance22 at the CLE event. Typically, the event is approved for six hours of Georgia CLE, including23 one hour of ethics; and24 WHEREAS, the journal is led by an elected Editorial Board guide d by a Faculty Advisor.25 Second, third, and fourth-year students from the full-time and part-time JD Program staff the26 journal and receive invitations to join based on their academic success and writing skills. The27 journal provides each member with additional educational opport unities by promoting28 excellence in research, writing, and analytical skills. Journal staff members work29 cooperatively with authors to further the journal's mission by creating, editing, and30 publishing each issue; and31 WHEREAS, the John Marshall Law Journal Members, Volume XIX, 2025-2026, include the32 following: Madeline Townsend, Austin Cauffman, David Smith, Boz DelMundo, Jack33 Landers, Chloe Strickland-Teems, Lee Lundy, Jory Peppelaar, Grace Vigar, and Christopher34 Peters.35 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that36 the members of this body honor and recognize the Atlanta's John Marshall Law School Law37 Journal upon its recent visit to the state capitol for its many outstanding contributions of legal38 scholarship as well as extend sincere best wishes for continued success.39 H.
