Bond requirements. In addition to the bond required in Code Section 53-6-41, county conservators shall give an additional bond with good security, to be judged by the court, in the sum of $5,000.00. Such additional bond shall be payable to the court for the benefit of all concerned, shall be attested by the judge or clerk of the court, and shall be conditioned upon the faithful discharge of the county conservator’s duty as such, as required by law. Actions on the bond may be brought by any person aggrieved by the misconduct of the county conservator, as provided by law for actions on the bonds of other conservators. ## History Code 1981, § 29-8-2, enacted by Ga. L. 2004, p. 161, § 1; Ga. L. 2011, p. 752, § 29/HB 142; Ga. L. 2025, p. 713, § 9/SB 98, effective July 1, 2025. ## Amendments The 2025 amendment, effective July 1, 2025, substituted “conservators shall give an additional bond” for “guardians shall give another bond” in the first sentence; rewrote the former second and third sentences, which read: “The bond shall be payable to the court for the benefit of all concerned. It shall be attested by the judge or clerk of the court and shall be conditioned upon the faithful discharge of the county guardian’s duty as such, as required by law.”; and, in the last sentence, substituted “conservator,” for “guardian,” and “conservators” for “guardians.”
