35-2-53. No costs or emoluments authorized; exception for rewards; payment and distribution of fines and costs.

  1. No member of the Uniform Division of the department shall receive any costs, emoluments, or other compensation other than his salary and any additional compensation provided by or through federal funding to which he may be entitled, except a legal reward as otherwise stated in this article. All fines and costs shall be paid into the treasury of the tribunal having jurisdiction of the offense and distributed according to law.

Amendments

The 2025 amendment, effective July 1, 2025, part of an Act to revise, modernize, and correct the Code, substituted “department” for “Department of Public Safety” near the beginning of this Code section.
