Code of ethics; discussion of board policies and actions; exceptions. A local board of education shall not adopt or follow any code of ethics which prevents the members of such board from discussing freely the policies and actions of such board outside of a board meeting. This Code section shall not apply to any matter or matters discussed in executive session as defined in subsection (a) of Code Section 50-14-1 or which are exempt from disclosure under Code Section 50-18-72. ## History Code 1981, § 36-80-1, enacted by Ga. L. 2016, p. 200, § 1/SB 275. ## Editor's Notes Former Code Section 36-80-1, pertaining to all meetings of governing bodies to be public, private executive sessions, and a penalty, was repealed by Ga. L. 1988, p. 235, § 2, effective July 1, 1988. The former Code section was based on Ga. L. 1965, p. 118, § 2; Ga. L. 1981, Ex. Sess., p. 8; and Ga. L. 1987, p. 3, § 36.
