Publication of “Georgia Unclaimed Property List”; contents of notice. (a) The commissioner shall electronically publish notice of the reports filed under Code Section 44-12-214 on the Department of Revenue’s website. (b) The published notice shall be entitled the “Georgia Unclaimed Property List” and shall contain the names in alphabetical order and the internal identification number of persons listed in the report and entitled to notice within the county as provided in Code Section 44-12-214. (c) The notice shall contain a statement that information concerning the amount or description of the property and the name of the holder may be obtained by any persons possessing an interest in the property by addressing an inquiry to the commissioner. In cases of property submitted pursuant to Code Section 44-12-211.1, the notice shall also contain the year, make, model, and vehicle identification number of the motor vehicle sold pursuant to Article 1A of Chapter 11 of Title 40, “The Abandoned Motor Vehicle Act.” (d) The commissioner shall not be required to publish in such notice any item with a value of less than $50.00 unless the commissioner deems such publication to be in the public interest. ## History Code 1981, § 44-12-215, enacted by Ga. L. 2019, p. 872, § 8/HB 307, not codified by the General Assembly, provides: “This Act shall become effective upon approval by the Governor or upon its becoming law without such approval for purposes of developing the required forms and shall become effective on September 1, 2019, for all other purposes.” The Governor signed this Act on May 7, 2019.
