# O.C.G.A. § 44-4-26. Use of terms “Grid North, Georgia East Zone” and “Grid North, Georgia West Zone.”

The term “Grid North, Georgia East Zone” refers to the fixed north direction in the East Zone, being Geodetic North for the central meridian of that zone. The term “Grid North, Georgia West Zone” refers to the fixed north direction in the West Zone, being Geodetic North for the central meridian of that zone. The applicable Grid North term and the basis of orientation shall appear on maps of survey that are purported oriented to a Georgia State Plane Coordinate System zone.

## Code Commission Notes

Ga. L. 2022, p. 674, § 1/SB 581, which amended this Code section, purported to redesignate Code Section 44-4-27 as Code Section 44-27-26 but actually redesignated this Code section as Code Section 44-4-26.

## Amendments

The 2022 amendment, effective July 1, 2022, redesignated former Code Section 44-4-27 as present Code Section 44-4-26, and substituted “of that zone” for “eightytwo degrees ten minutes west of Greenwich” in the first sentence and for “eightyfour degrees ten minutes west of Greenwich” in the second sentence, and inserted “State Plane” in the third sentence.
