Art. VII, Sec. IV, Para. XIII. Multiyear rental agreements.

Active

Current through: Including Acts of the 2025 Regular Session of the General Assembly.

A constitution provision shown as in force is in force as printed in the volume. A court decision can make a printed provision unenforceable without changing the volume, and the volume does not record that.

  1. The General Assembly may by general law authorize the State Properties Commission, the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia, and the Georgia Department of Labor to enter into rental agreements for the possession and use of real property without obligating present funds for the full amount of obligation the state may bear under the full term of any such rental agreement. Any such agreement shall provide for the termination of the agreement in the event of insufficient funds. (Ga. Const. 1983, Art. 7, § 4, Para. 13, approved by Ga. L. 2012, p. 1363, § 1/SR 84.)

The notes below are printed with the section but are not enacted law (O.C.G.A. § 1-1-1(c)). They are shown apart from the text.

Editor's notes

The constitutional amendment (Ga. L. 2012, p. 1363, § 1/SR 84), which added Paragraph XIII to authorize state multiyear rental agreements for the possession and use of real property without obligating present funds, was ratified at the general election held on November 6, 2012.
