A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

To amend Code Section 33-1-24 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to insurance requirements for transportation network companies and their drivers, so as to clarify periods of time for transportation network company services; to provide for a definition; to provide for related matters; to provide for an effective date and applicability; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:

SECTION 1.

Code Section 33-1-24 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to insurance requirements for transportation network companies and their drivers, is amended by revising paragraph (5) of subsection (a) as follows:

"(5) 'Transportation network company services' or 'services' means:

(A) The period of time a driver is logged on to the transportation network company's digital network and available to accept a ride request until the driver is logged off, except for that time period described in subparagraph (B) of this paragraph; and

(B) The period of time a driver accepts a ride request rider occupies a vehicle during a ride requested on the transportation network company's digital network until the driver completes the transaction or the ride is complete, whichever is later. Transportation network company services shall not include transportation provided using a taxi, a limousine carrier as defined in Code Section 40-1-151, or any other commercially registered motor vehicle and commercially licensed driver."

SECTION 2.

This Act shall become effective on July 1, 2026, and shall apply to all policies issued, delivered, issued for delivery, or renewed in this state on or after such date.

SECTION 3.

All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
