A RESOLUTION

Recognizing the Honorable Terry England and dedicating an intersection in his honor; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Honorable Terry England has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, Representative England has spent his entire working life as a farmer and agribusinessman; and

WHEREAS, in 2004, he was elected to serve in the Georgia House of Representatives and diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state with 18 years of superlative service before his retirement in 2023; and

WHEREAS, during his tenure in the House of Representatives, he served as chairperson of the House Appropriations Committee and cochairperson of the Agricultural Education Advisory Commission; and

WHEREAS, he served on the Legislative Services Committee, the Fiscal Affairs Subcommittee, and the House Committees on Agriculture and Consumer Affairs; Education; Natural Resources and Environment; Industry and Labor; and Ways and Means; and

WHEREAS, his leadership and guidance were greatly relied upon by Speaker of the House of Representatives John Burns when Representative England returned to the Gold Dome after his retirement to serve with honor and distinction as chief of staff to the Speaker; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be recognized appropriately by dedicating an intersection in his honor.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL

ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the intersection of State Route 211 and West Winder Bypass in Barrow County is dedicated as the Honorable Terry England Intersection. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs dedicating the Honorable Terry England Intersection.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the Honorable Terry England and to the Department of Transportation.
