A RESOLUTION

Congratulating Leo Mazzone upon his induction into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame has recently announced its Class of 2025 inductees, with the 69th Annual Induction Ceremony set to take place on February 21 and 22, 2025, in Macon, Georgia; and

WHEREAS, Leo Mazzone, one of the most influential pitching coaches in Major League Baseball history, has been selected for induction into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in recognition of his extraordinary contributions to the sport; and

WHEREAS, he served as the Atlanta Braves' pitching coach from 1990 to 2005, orchestrating one of the most dominant pitching rotations in baseball history and mentoring Hall of Famers Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, and John Smoltz to sustained excellence; and

WHEREAS, under his leadership, the Braves secured 14 consecutive division titles and captured the 1995 World Series, earning its well-deserved reputation as one of the most successful franchises of the era; and

WHEREAS, known for his innovative coaching methods, including his emphasis on frequent throwing between starts, Leo Mazzone revolutionized the way pitchers prepared for competition and left a lasting impact on the game; and

WHEREAS, his dedication, expertise, and ability to maximize the potential of his pitchers earned him widespread respect throughout the baseball community, culminating in his induction into the Braves Hall of Fame in 2022; and

WHEREAS, the induction of Leo Mazzone into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame is a fitting tribute to his legacy as a visionary coach and a key architect of one of baseball's greatest dynasties.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body congratulate Leo Mazzone upon his induction into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame and extend the most sincere best wishes for future health and happiness. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Leo Mazzone.
