A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Senator Jon Ossoff; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, since his election, Senator Jon Ossoff has championed economic development in Georgia, passing legislation that has attracted thousands of advanced manufacturing jobs and billions of dollars in investment, strengthening the state's economy and workforce; and
WHEREAS, through the historic bipartisan infrastructure law, he has secured funding to greatly expand broadband internet access; upgrade Georgia's ports, airports, roads, bridges, and water infrastructure; and invest in coastal resilience to protect communities from storm surge, flooding, and tropical storms; and
WHEREAS, he has led bipartisan investigations exposing the mistreatment of military families in privatized housing, corruption in federal prisons, the sexual assault of female inmates, and the medical mistreatment of women in federal detention; and
WHEREAS, he has upgraded and strengthened healthcare facilities across Georgia as well as helped pass legislation capping the cost of insulin for seniors at $35 per month; and
WHEREAS, deeply committed to supporting Georgia's veterans, servicemembers, and military families, he has passed bipartisan legislation to expand veterans' access to mental health care, upgrade child development centers for military families, and enhance VA healthcare services for Iraq and Afghanistan veterans; and
WHEREAS, his legislative achievements further include laws to strengthen mental health care services, public safety, and opioid epidemic response; investigate unsolved lynchings and civil rights murders; combat corruption and improve security in federal prisons; and safeguard children from online exploitation; and
WHEREAS, through his unwavering commitment to service, bipartisanship, and the well-being of Georgians, Senator Ossoff continues to deliver critical reforms and investments that improve the lives of families, veterans, and communities across the state.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Senator Jon Ossoff for his efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia and extend the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Senator Jon Ossoff.
