A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Reverend John H. Herring; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Reverend John H. Herring has demonstrated his commitment to teaching the Gospel, witnessing Christ through word and deed, and addressing the physical, psychological, intellectual, and spiritual needs of others; and

WHEREAS, On April 25, 2010, Reverend Herring was licensed to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and in March 2011, was ordained as a Preacher of the Gospel; and

WHEREAS, in 2012, upon the retirement of his father, Pastor Wallace B. Herring, Sr., Reverend John Herring became the 4th and youngest pastor of Glorious Hope Baptist Church in Macon, Georgia; and

WHEREAS, his vision and direction have helped Glorious Hope Baptist Church grow in size and influence, uplifting the community like the light of Bethlehem and serving as a spiritual leader and place for fellowship; and

WHEREAS, with the heart for children and youth, Reverend Herring has been instrumental in the success of the widely popular Men About Change program, an after-school and summer program for boys and girls that focuses on educational and entrepreneurial initiatives, character development, and community service; and

WHEREAS, whether the task is preparing a sermon, visiting the sick, counseling the troubled, baptizing a new believer, or acting as a theologian, educator, administrator, or humanitarian, Reverend Herring has shown the energy, devotion, and commitment truly reflective of divine guidance; and

WHEREAS, the unmatched spiritual assistance offered by Reverend Herring is a source of strength and direction for persons in all walks of life; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of the dynamic Christian ministry of this devout and pious man.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Reverend John H. Herring and extend best wishes for many more years of successful fellowship and leadership. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Reverend John H. Herring.
