A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Will Anderson Jr.; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Will Anderson Jr., of Hampton, Georgia, is a third-year star defensive end on the Houston Texans; and
WHEREAS, he was selected third overall in the 2023 NFL Draft, was named a Texans Pro Bowl alternate, and at the conclusion of his first season was named 2023 Defensive Rookie of the Year, earned a spot on the Pro Football Writers Association's All-Rookie Team list, and received his first Pro Bowl selection; and
WHEREAS, prior to his professional career, Will led the University of Alabama to three successful seasons, ending the 2020 season with a National Championship victory; and
WHEREAS, his collegiate accolades include being named the Bronko Nagurski winner two times, earning the 2022 Chuck Bednarik Award, achieving two SEC Defensive Player of the Year honors and two unanimous All-American honors, as well as being named team captain by his peers in 2023 and 2024; and
WHEREAS, beyond his on-field dominance, Will has a strong focus on giving back to the communities that impacted him the most, with a specific focus on helping the next generation; and
WHEREAS, this stellar athlete epitomizes the courage, determination, leadership, and character necessary to attain excellence in athletic prowess and performance; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Will Anderson Jr., for his athletic success and devotion to his community as well as extend the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Will Anderson Jr.
