A RESOLUTION
Congratulating the Charles R. Drew Public Charter School varsity boys golf team for winning the State Golfing Championship; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, the Charles R. Drew Public Charter School varsity boys golf team has established and maintained a proud tradition of excellence with equal emphases on character and academics; and
WHEREAS, this superlative team has all Black players and an all-Black coaching staff, making them the first all-Black team, and first Atlatna Public Schools Team, to win a State Golf Championship in Georgia; and
WHEREAS, excellent play, superior teamwork, and extraordinary resilience made this team a spectacular one to observe throughout the season; and
WHEREAS, the team brought special recognition to its school y beating the two-time defending state champions by more than 15 strokes; and
WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding athletic ability, dedication, hard work, and unity of purpose and spirit of each member of the team, and the astute direction of Head Coach Nyre Williams; and
WHEREAS, as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by performing with courage and precision over months of training and competition, it is abundantly proper to call them champions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body congratulate the Charles R. Drew Public Charter School varsity boys golf team for winning the State Golfing Championship and extend best wishes for their continued success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Charles R. Drew Public Charter School varsity boys golf team.
