A RESOLUTION
Congratulating the Creekside High School girls basketball team for winning the 2025 GHSA Class 4A State Basketball Championship; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, the Creekside High School girls basketball team has established and maintained a proud tradition of excellence with equal emphases on character and academics; and
WHEREAS, this superlative team has completed another triumphant season of basketball competition by posting an outstanding record of 32 wins and only no losses; and
WHEREAS, excellent play, superior teamwork, and extraordinary resilience made this team a spectacular one to observe throughout the season, and as a fitting finale to its remarkable 2025 campaign, the team captured its first state basketball championship; and
WHEREAS, the team brought special recognition to its school by winning the 2024 GHSA Class 4A State Basketball Championship against Maynard Jackson with a final score of 57 to 37; and
WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding athletic ability, dedication, hard work, and unity of purpose and spirit of each member of the team; its superb offensive and defensive talents; and the astute direction of Head Coach Akennia Ellis; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach Akennia Ellis was named Region 4-AAAA Coach of the Year, GPB Sports 4A Coach of the Year, Sandy’s Spiel 4A Coach of the Year and Georgia Athletic Coaches Association Coach of the Year; and
WHEREAS, the team included all star performers Jacy Mitchell, Skye Cleveland, and C’India Dennis; and
WHEREAS, C’India Dennis and Skye Cleveland both surpassed 1,000 career points this season; and
WHEREAS, Skye Cleveland was selected as All State by the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association and for the Georgia Basketball Coaches Association All Star Team; and
WHEREAS, C’India Dennis has been recognized as Morgan and Morgan 4A State Championship MVP, Georgia Athletic Coaches Association 4A South Player of the Year, Sandy’s Spiel 4A Player of the Year and 1st Team All-State, Region 4-AAAA Player of the Year, Atlanta Tip Off Club 3rd Team Honoree, and is scholar athlete with a 3.45 GPA; and
WHEREAS, as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by performing with courage and precision over months of training and competition, it is abundantly proper to call them champions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body congratulate the Creekside High School girls basketball team for winning the 2025 GHSA Class 4A State Basketball Championship and extend best wishes for their continued success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Creekside High School girls basketball team.
