Senate Resolution 405

A RESOLUTION

Recognizing Arabia Mountain Vineyard; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Arabia Mountain Vineyard is a vibrant agritourism destination and multipurpose venue where entertainment, recreation, and education come to life; and

WHEREAS, rooted in environmental stewardship and economic empowerment, Arabia Mountain Vineyard provides hands-on learning, workforce development, and opportunities for small businesses and local entrepreneurs to flourish; and

WHEREAS, the vineyard actively supports local schools, charities, and cultural events, enhancing the lives of residents of DeKalb, Rockdale, and Henry counties; and

WHEREAS, Arabia Mountain Vineyard has introduced more than 1,500 students to hands- on agricultural experiences, inspiring future generations of agriculturalists and environmental stewards as well as fostering a love for the environment, sustainable farming, and horticulture; and

WHEREAS, the vineyard stimulates the local economy by providing opportunities in agriculture, hospitality, and event planning as well as by serving as a training ground for landscaping and botanical expertise, furthering participants' career readiness and education in fields of landscaping and viticulture; and

WHEREAS, by prioritizing organic farming, Arabia Mountain Vineyard has reduced pesticide waste by 90 percent, significantly improving soil health, water quality, and biodiversity; and

WHEREAS, vineyards can sequester up to 1.5 metric tons of carbon per acre annually, contributing to climate change mitigation and clean air for local communities; and

WHEREAS, Arabia Mountain Vineyard's cover crops improve soil fertility, reduce erosion, enhance water retention, and foster an environment where native species thrive; and

WHEREAS, as Arabia Mountain Vineyard contributes significantly to the educational enrichment, economic empowerment, and cultural preservation of the DeKalb, Rockdale, and Henry counties it is abundantly fitting and proper that its contributions are honored; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize Arabia Mountain Vineyard for cultivating a lasting legacy of growth and prosperity that blends nature, culture, and community.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Arabia Mountain Vineyard.
