A RESOLUTION

Honoring the life and memory of Mr. Abit Massey; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mr. Abit Massey served this state for many years with honor and distinction as President and President Emeritus of the Georgia Poultry Federation; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Abit Massey served on numerous boards and commissions across our great state; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Abit Massey graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Business Administration and from Emory University with a law degree; and

WHEREAS, he was united in love and marriage to his wife, Kayanne, and was blessed with two remarkable children, Lewis and Camille, and four wonderful grandchildren, Chandler, Cameryn, Christian, and Lucia Kai; and

WHEREAS, a man of deep and abiding faith, Mr. Abit Massey served for many years as a Deacon at the First Baptist Church in Gainesville, Georgia; and

WHEREAS, Congressman Buddy Carter recently introduced a bill in the United States House of Representatives to name the USDA National Poultry Research Center in Athens after Mr. Abit Massey; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Abit Massey spent many joyful and successful days at the State Capitol lobbying on behalf of the poultry industry; and

WHEREAS, a Celebration of Life attended by hundreds of people took place in July to honor the life of Mr. Abit Massey.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Mr. Abit Massey and express their deepest and most sincere regret on his passing.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the family of Mr. Abit Massey.
