A RESOLUTION

Honoring the exceptional service and sacrifices of veterans and recognizing November 2025 as Veterans Month; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Veterans Day, originally known as Armistice Day, marks the end of World War I and the signing of the Armistice agreement between Germany and the Allies on November 11, 1918, at 11:00 AM; and

WHEREAS, in 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower renamed Armistice Day as Veterans Day to honor all veterans of the United States; and

WHEREAS, veterans have made immeasurable contributions toward the defense of this nation, as brave soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines have risked their lives to protect the freedoms that all Americans hold dear; and

WHEREAS, in addition to physical injuries, many veterans experience psychological and emotional trauma that requires ongoing care and support; and

WHEREAS, while veterans are formally honored on Veterans Day, dedicating the entire month of November to their recognition will increase awareness of the hardships veterans endure both during and after combat; and

WHEREAS, the observance of Veterans Month will provide an opportunity to show respect, gratitude, and dedication to our veterans.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body honor the exceptional service and sacrifices of veterans, recognize November 2025 as Veterans Month, and encourage all Georgians to engage in celebratory activities and programs aimed at recognizing and supporting veterans.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public, veterans organizations, and the press.
