A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending WCLK Jazz 91.9 for its contributions to Georgia and the jazz community; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, WCLK, also known as Jazz 91.9, is a pillar of the Georgia broadcasting community that has served as a beacon of culture, education, and artistic excellence since its very first broadcast on April 10, 1974; and
WHEREAS, WCLK is housed on the historic campus of Clark Atlanta University and has spent the last five decades committed to sharing quality multimedia and broadcast programs; and
WHEREAS, WCLK has remained steadfast in its mission to uplift, educate, and inform both the Atlanta community and the world while fostering greater awareness of jazz music as a unique American art form; and
WHEREAS, WCLK has played a crucial role in guiding and training students in all aspects of broadcast and public media service, equipping future generations with essential skills in media production and communication; and
WHEREAS, WCLK has been instrumental in preserving and promoting jazz music, providing a platform for both emerging and established artists, and ensuring that the rich musical tradition continues to inspire everyone; and
WHEREAS, WCLK has continuously demonstrated excellence in radio broadcasting and community service, enriching the cultural fabric of Georgia and beyond through its dedication to music and public programming.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend WCLK Jazz 91.9 for its outstanding contributions to the arts, education, and public media as well as extend their best wishes for continued success in its mission to serve the community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to WCLK Jazz 91.9.
