A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Reverend Darion Hutcherson upon being named the 2025 Counselor of the Year by the Atlanta Public School System; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, a proper quality education for the young people of this state is the single most important objective of the General Assembly; and

WHEREAS, Reverend Darion Hutcherson has been named the 2025 Counselor of the Year by the Atlanta Public School System in recognition of his decades of outstanding service, commitment, and leadership in the field of education; and

WHEREAS, on Thursday, March 27, 2025, the Atlanta Public School System will host a special program in honor of Reverend Hutcherson to celebrate his achievements and present him with this well-deserved tribute; and

WHEREAS, he is a firm believer that "all children can learn," a philosophy that has driven his decades of impactful service to students across Georgia, Louisiana, South Carolina, and the nation; and

WHEREAS, the fruits of his labor include numerous professional athletes, doctors, lawyers, elected officials, public servants, educators, and members of the United States Armed Forces who carry forward the values and discipline instilled through his guidance; and

WHEREAS, his unwavering devotion to the children of the City of Atlanta, Fulton County, the State of Georgia, and the nation has earned him the admiration and respect of peers, students, and communities alike; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkable individual be appropriately honored during this special time.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend Reverend Darion Hutcherson, the 2025 Counselor of the Year, for his decades of exemplary service in education and youth development as well as extend best wishes for continued success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Reverend Darion Hutcherson.
