A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Goodwill of North Georgia upon its 100th anniversary; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Goodwill of North Georgia is a nonprofit organization that was founded in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1925 by local citizens committed to supporting job seekers and promoting community empowerment—this year, the organization is celebrating 100 years of service in the State of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, Goodwill of North Georgia's mission is to "put people to work" by providing job training, placement services, and workforce development programs funded through the sale of donated goods, thereby creating pathways to economic stability and self-sufficiency; and

WHEREAS, over the course of its century of service, Goodwill of North Georgia has made a profound impact on communities throughout the state by serving more than 700,000 Georgians and facilitating over 300,000 job placements through its career centers and employment programs; and

WHEREAS, Goodwill of North Georgia has expanded its reach to serve a 45-county region in North Georgia and currently operates more than 70 retail stores, over 40 donation centers, and 14 career centers dedicated to workforce development and economic opportunity; and

WHEREAS, Goodwill of North Georgia has demonstrated leadership and innovation in workforce development, including the opening of its first career center in 1995, and has been recognized as the top-performing Goodwill organization nationally for job placements; and

WHEREAS, the organization's work generates nearly $1 billion in annual economic impact in Georgia, underscoring the critical role it plays in strengthening the state's workforce, supporting employers, and uplifting individuals and families across diverse communities.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend Goodwill of North Georgia upon its 100th anniversary and extend their sincere appreciation for a century of service, leadership, and commitment to putting Georgians to work.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Goodwill of North Georgia.
