SR624: SR624 Officer Drew Haynes Brown Memorial Intersection; Cobb County; dedicate

This resolution does not change any law that affects daily life. Instead, it uses the state highway system to memorialize specific people and, in one case, a family and World War I veterans generally. Each part of the resolution includes a short biography explaining why the honoree is being recognized, followed by an enacting clause naming a specific intersection, bridge, road segment, roundabout, or interchange after them. Motorists and residents in the many Georgia counties where roads are renamed, the Department of Transportation which must install and maintain new signage, and the honorees or families of the individuals memorialized, including law enforcement officers, veterans, elected officials, and community leaders.

While the resolution does not change any substantive law, it changes how specific roads, bridges, and intersections are officially named and signed, permanently commemorating the individuals honored and requiring state resources to produce and maintain the new signage.

• Part I honors Cobb County Officer Drew Haynes Brown, killed in 1983 by a drunk driver while operating radar, memorialized at U.S. 41/State Route 3 and Creekside Village Parkway NW.
• Parts II through XLVII each contain a biography followed by a dedication of a road facility to a named person, family, or group, spanning dozens of Georgia counties.
• The enacting section (Part XLVIII) lists each specific dedication, naming the exact highway, road, bridge, or interchange location for every honoree.
• The resolution amends prior Senate Resolutions 7, 8, and 231 from 2025 to correct road descriptions, fix a naming error, and repeal a duplicate dedication.
• The Department of Transportation is directed to erect and maintain signs, and the Secretary of the Senate is directed to distribute copies of the resolution to honorees and families.
