A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra (JCSO) is a fully professional orchestra founded and incorporated on April 28, 2007, as a result of the vision of its founder, Music Director J. Wayne Baughman; and

WHEREAS, the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra is the only fully professional orchestra serving North Fulton, Gwinnett, Forsyth, and surrounding communities; and

WHEREAS, the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra's mission is to enhance the quality of life for Johns Creek and North Metro Atlanta residents through the presentation of high-quality performances, education and outreach program that reflect the cultural diversity of the community; and

WHEREAS, the orchestra's musicians are among the finest instrumentalists in America, with an average of 16 years experience in professional orchestras, most of the members having graduate degrees or artist diplomas in performing arts from the leading institutions of higher learning in the United States, and many having received additional training in Berlin, London, Rome, Salzburg, Vienna and other leading European music centers; and

WHEREAS, now under the direction of Music Director Henry Cheng, the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra is entering an ambitious new chapter, blending world-class artistry with community-centered programming that inspires audiences of all ages; and

WHEREAS, the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra made history in 2025 as it traveled to Vietnam for a landmark international tour, joining the New York Philharmonic and the Minnesota Orchestra as one of only a few American orchestras to perform in the country over the past 20 years.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra and extend their sincere best wishes for its continued growth and success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra.
