The Supreme Court shall consist of nine Justices.

Ga. L. 2016, p. 883, § 1-1/HB 927, not codified by the General Assembly, provides that: ‘‘This Act shall be known and may be cited as the ‘Appellate Jurisdiction Reform Act of 2016.’’’ Ga. L. 2016, p. 883, § 6-1(d)/HB 927, not codified by the General Assembly, provides that: ‘‘Part IV of this Act shall only become effective if funds are appropriated for the purpose of Part IV of this Act in an appropriations Act enacted at the 2016 regular session of the General Assembly. If funds are so appropriated, then Part IV of thisAct shall become effective on July 1, 2016, for purposes of making the initial appointments of the Supreme Court Justices created by this Act, and for all other purposes Part IV of this Act shall become effective on January 1, 2017. If funds are not so appropriated, then Part IV of this Act shall not become effective and shall stand repealed on July 1, 2016.’’ Funds were appropriated at the 2016 regular session.
