House Resolution 1137

By: Representatives Cummings of the 39th, Parsons of the 44th, Williams of the 37th, Adesanya of the 43rd, Campbell of the 35th, and others

A RESOLUTION

Congratulating Sonic Edge of Pebblebrook High School for winning the 2025 International Championship of High School A Cappella; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the 17-member a cappella ensemble, Sonic Edge, of Pebblebrook High School’s Cobb County Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts has exhibited extraordinary artistry, teamwork, and commitment to musical excellence; and

WHEREAS, under the expert direction and mentorship of Mr. Trey Giddens, Director of Choral Activities and coach of Sonic Edge, the ensemble has risen to the highest levels of achievement and professionalism in national performance; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Dana Giles, Principal of Pebblebrook High School, has provided exceptional leadership and steadfast support to the school’s performing arts program, ensuring that students have the opportunity to pursue excellence both academically and artistically; and

WHEREAS, in April 2025, Sonic Edge competed in the International Championship of High School A Cappella Finals in New York City and won the National Championship title for the second consecutive year, thus bringing honor and distinction to Pebblebrook High School, Cobb County, and the State of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, reflecting the exceptional individual talents within the group, Amber Lowe earned the award for Best Vocal Percussionist, and Elise Lloyd received Best Soloist; and

WHEREAS, the ensemble, comprised of Amber Lowe, Marcus Ladden Jr., Jeremiah McCall, Javion Crenshaw, Mathew Marquina, Kristopher Hendricks, Nathan Iles, Andrew Bodrick, Deanna Edmond, Gabriella Umanzor-Silva, Charli Glenn, Sydney Gruver, Audrey Schohan, Elise Lloyd, Elena Higgins, Audrey Curtis, and Devyn Blocker, preformed with artistry, precision, and passion, earning praise from judges and audiences across the nation; and

WHEREAS, the accomplishments of Sonic Edge exemplify the success that can be achieved when students, educators, and administrators work together in pursuit of artistic excellence; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this outstanding group of young performers, their coach, and their school leaders be recognized for the pride they have brought to their school, community, and the State of Georgia.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body congratulate Sonic Edge of Pebblebrook High School for winning the 2025 International Championship of High School A Cappella, recognize Mr. David Rosenthal and Dr. Dana Giles for their leadership and commitment to the arts, and extend best wishes for continued success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the members of Sonic Edge, Dr. David Rosenthal, and Dr. Dana Giles.
