House Resolution 1355

A RESOLUTION

Recognizing the First Senior Center of Georgia; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the First Senior Center of Georgia (FSC), founded in 2017 by current CEO Von Tran, is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing free services to the Vietnamese elderly community in and around Atlanta; and

WHEREAS, the elderly Vietnamese community faces many issues, including struggling with language barriers, limited education, and the difficulties of adapting to a modern environment, all of which can often leave them feeling isolated; and

WHEREAS, the First Senior Center of Georgia operates with the mission to provide quality culturally and linguistically competent health and social services to Vietnamese and minority seniors in Georgia and to cultivate a community where Vietnamese and minority seniors have a sense of belonging, experience exceptional care, and lead fulfilling lives; and

WHEREAS, the First Senior Center of Georgia operates a bi-weekly food pantry dedicated to serving low-income families with seniors aged 65 and above, social & community health services, interpretation & translation, transportation, funeral support services, and rental assistance; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkable organization be appropriately commended.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize the First Senior Center of Georgia and extend their best wishes for its continued growth and success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the First Senior Center of Georgia.
