House Resolution 1566

A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending E’Maya Asbury; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, E’Maya Asbury, a 2026 Showtime Pros Cotillion debutante, is the accomplished daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Asbury; and

WHEREAS, through her participation in the 2026 Showtime Pros Cotillion debutante program, E’Maya has been supported and encouraged to grow in strength, character, confidence, and purpose; and

WHEREAS, a junior attending Heritage High School, E'Maya exemplifies the true meaning of being a student-athlete; and

WHEREAS, she competed in the Junior Olympics and is ranked in the top ten in the state in the 300 Hurdlers as well as is number one in her region; and

WHEREAS, she is also a member of the Audio and Film program at Rockdale Career Academy and is involved in the BETA Club and FCCLA; and

WHEREAS, E'Maya serves as a Gleaner and holds the seat of Chaplain with the St. Paul Grand Lodge and Tinashe Grande Chapter Order of the Eastern Stars, where she is an active member who helps to bring the community together and supports youth in need; and

WHEREAS, each debutante completed a minimum of 10 hours of community service and maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.9; and

WHEREAS, throughout the program, the young women participated in transformative workshops and experiences designed to challenge and inspire them; and

WHEREAS, a defining moment of the season was their visit to the Georgia State Capitol, where they were recognized during the legislative session and had the opportunity to speak on issues important to them–demonstrating that their voices matter and their purpose is already in action; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this outstanding young woman be appropriately honored.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend E’Maya Asbury for her unwavering commitment to service, leadership, academic excellence, and community involvement. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to E’Maya Asbury.
