A RESOLUTION

Honoring the courage, service, and sacrifice of the men and women of the United States Armed Forces; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the United States Armed Forces have a long and proud history of defending the freedoms and security of this nation; and

WHEREAS, men and women in uniform serve with courage, professionalism, and dedication in regions across the world, often under dangerous and uncertain conditions; and

WHEREAS, members of the Armed Forces willingly place themselves in harm's way in defense of the United States and its interests; and

WHEREAS, military service is not borne by service members alone but also by their families, including parents, spouses, and children, who support them with strength and sacrifice; and

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia is home to many active-duty service members, veterans, and military families who contribute greatly to the strength of our communities; and

WHEREAS, the people of this state are deeply grateful for the service and sacrifice of all members of the United States Armed Forces, past and present; and

WHEREAS, it is appropriate that this body express its respect, appreciation, and support for those who serve in uniform, without regard to specific military actions or policy decisions.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body hereby honor the courage, professionalism, and selfless service of the men and women of the United States Armed Forces as well as express their deepest gratitude to military families, whose support and sacrifice make such service possible. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the press.
